Recent statistics show that women are looking to other professions or are leaving the technology field at twice the rate of men! The majority of women in the technology industry hold entry- or mid-level positions.
Women play only minor roles in many high-tech occupations. For instance, women make up only 5 percent of computer programmers, 10 percent of system analysts and 10 percent of electronics technicians.
At Girls in Tech Boise, we'd like to change those statistics! We believe that the thriving local Boise tech industry is a perfect place for women in technology careers.
We've initiated a Boise chapter of Girls in Tech in order to inspire and empower the local techie women to take the next step and enjoy even more success in the technology field. By providing a forum to cultivate ideas around careers and business concepts involving technology, Girls in Tech Boise is helping to empower women in the technology field.
Girls in Tech Boise offers support through a network of like-minded women to help elevate the status of local women in technology. Women engage, communicate, and interact differently than men; we are more expressive, emotional and social; Girls in Tech encourages women to embrace their femininity and who they are, instead of trying to be more like their male counterparts.
Girls in Tech Boise provides a forum for online and offline engagement through this site, the Girls in Tech Global site, our FaceBook Group, and networking and educational events right here in Boise.
